Ali & Phoebe

Hello, we’re Ali & Phoebe Grant

Revival Conversations was born from a moment of excitement as Ali’s parents told us stories about their church in the 90’s. St Andrew’s Chorleywood experienced an outpouring following visits of John Wimber and The Toronto Blessing. Hearing about this time inspired us to know more about how God moves.

We want to hear these stories first hand, so we’ve decided to gather all of our friends to hear the stories from the people that were involved. We have found hearing stories about what God has done in the past and how He has used people so inspiring. We want to see God move again in the UK and think it’s important to stand on what has happened in the past.

That’s what Revival Conversations is all about - hearing stories about what God has done in the past, in order that we might be excited and expectant for what He is going to do in the future.

We’d love you to join us as we step out on this adventure - all are welcome!

See you soon,

Ali & Phoebe

What is Revival Conversations?

  • Four live Zoom gatherings in April 2021

  • Welcoming a different guest speaker each week

  • An opportunity to hear the amazing God stories about outpouring and revival from Heroes of the Faith

  • A time of connection and story-telling between generations

Why talk about the UK’s heritage of revival?

The UK has a rich heritage of revival and outpouring which have laid the foundations on which we now stand. Hearing stories of the move of God and men and women who have been used by God connect us to our heritage and raise our expectations of what could happen in, and through, our lives.

If you don’t know much about UK revival history then we encourage you to join our calls!

Why Revival Conversations?

Stories are powerful. Revival Conversations is all about gathering people across the generations around stories of revival, remembering the UK’s heritage of revival, and inspiring hunger in people for God to do it again.

We want to see revival in the UK and believe that hunger plays a significant role in every move of God. In sharing the testimonies of how God has moved in the past we believe it will increase our faith that God will do it again.

What will we talk about?

In Revival Conversations we’ll ask our guest speakers to tell us their stories of how they’ve seen God move in their lives, ministries particularly focussed on the 80’s and 90’s following the visits of John Wimber to the UK and what was termed ‘The Toronto Blessing’.

If you don’t know the stories of how John Wimber influenced the UK in the 80’s or how The Toronto Blessing flowed into the UK in the 90’s then come and hear it from those who were part of it!

Bishop David and Mary Pytches joined us on the 7th of April. Watch the recording.

David was the Bishop of Chile, Bolivia and Peru between 1970 - 1976. He was then the Vicar of St Andrew’s Chorleywood between 1976 - 1996 during which time, he wrote a letter inviting John Wimber to visit, which John did on a number of occasions. During those years, St Andrew’s grew and became a prominent church during the 80’s and moving into the 90’s following the Toronto Blessing. In 1989 they founded New Wine.

James Roberts joined us on the 14th April. Watch the recording.

Growing up at St Andrew’s, James says he thought what he was seeing God do in the 80’s and 90’s was ‘a normal church experience.’ After leaving the youth he ran his own business before joining the staff at St Andrew’s. He was part of the Faith Sharing team under Barry Kissell and travelled across the UK and internationally seeing God do wonderful things. He later became the Director of the Faith Sharing team, before planting Connect Church in Chorleywood in 2008.

Eleanor and John Mumford joined us on the 21st of April. Watch the recording.

Eleanor and John worked for two years with John Wimber at the Anaheim Vineyard in California before starting the SW London Vineyard in 1987 which they led until 2008. It was following Eleanor and John’s visit to the Toronto Airport Vineyard Church in May 1994 that the Holy Spirit started to move powerfully in the UK and at Holy Trinity Brompton. From 2008 they served as National Directors of The Vineyard in the UK and Ireland; a role they played until 2015, when they handed it over in order to focus on the continued development and momentum of the international Vineyard family.

John and Carol Arnott joined us on the 28th April. Watch the recording.

John and Carol have become known for their ministry of Revival. In 1987 they started Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (now Catch the Fire Toronto). In January 1994, through a sovereign outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Revival exploded into protracted meetings commonly referred to as ‘The Toronto Blessing’. It’s this outpouring that we felt so significantly in the UK - following people like Eleanor Mumford and David Pytches’ visits to Toronto. It is a huge privilege to hear John and Carol share their stories from those years which marked many people and churches across the UK. Speaking with the Arnotts will bring our series to a beautiful close!
